4.3.17. Survey and steering check on the carRegularly check a steering condition as traffic safety depends on it.
At steering survey special attention turn on a condition of protective covers and carving connections. The rubber covers torn, cracked or lost elasticity necessarily replace, differently the water which has got to knots, a dust and a dirt will quickly put them out of action.
On the cars equipped with the hydraulic booster, check up a condition of hoses and the pipelines connecting the pump, a tank and the steering mechanism.
Check up an arrangement of spokes of a steering wheel which at rectilinear position of forward wheels should be symmetrized concerning a vertical axis. Otherwise define a cause of defect and eliminate it.
Turning a steering wheel from an emphasis against the stop, check up visually and on hearing:
– Reliability of fastening of the steering mechanism and a steering wheel;
– Absence of a backlash in plugs of steering draughts and spherical hinges of tips of steering draughts;
– Reliability of an inhaling and latching of bolts of fastening of bent for рейке and nuts of fingers of spherical hinges;
– Absence of jammings and the hindrances interfering turn of a steering wheel.
If you find out knocks and jammings, disconnect steering draughts from rotary levers of telescopic racks and repeat check. If knocks and jammings do not stop, remove the steering mechanism from the car and repair.
