5.11.3. Repair of the oil pump

The device of the oil pump is shown on fig. 5.14.

5.14 variant of the oil pump shown on fig. differs from a variant of the pump established on the car used for shooting, an arrangement редукционного and safety valves a little. However all entering details are identical at all variants of pumps.

It be required to you: keys on 24, on 27, a key-shestigrannik on 8, a screw-driver with a crosswise edge, a calliper, a set flat щупов.
1. Remove the oil pump from the car (Removal and installation of the oil pump see).

If the sealing lining remained on the case of the pump and is not damaged, it can to be separated from the case. In this case at return installation of the pump grease a lining with a thin layer of hermetic.

2. Merge oil from the pump.
3. Take out from расточки cases any pointed tool (for example, a screw-driver) a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft.
4. Turn out from an adapter of the case of the oil pump the gauge of 1 alarm lamp of emergency pressure drop of oil (if it is established on the pump), and from the pump case — a safety valve 2 and a stopper 3 редукционного the valve. Take from a cavity of the case a spring 3 (fig. 5.14 see) and плунжер 4 редукционного the valve.

The spring редукционного the valve is established with a tightness. In order to avoid trauma reception turn out a stopper cautiously.

Pay attention: under a stopper редукционного the valve the sealing lining is established, do not lose it.

5. Turn out five screws of fastening of a cover of the pump …
6. … also uncover.
7. Take from a case cavity conducting …
8. … and conducted gear wheels of the pump.
9. Wash out the case of the pump and the dismantled details to remove a dirt and adjournment. Dense varnish adjournment from internal cavities of the pump remove, preliminary having softened their solvent.

Varnish oil adjournment well leave means available on sale for engine washing (so-called "five-minutes").

10. Examine the case and a pump cover. In the presence of cracks, scratches, defects of the moulding, the damaged carving apertures replace the case (as it неремонтопригоден) or the pump in gathering.
11. Check up плунжер редукционного the valve on presence of scratches and jamming traces. Small dents and agnails can be removed grinding бруском small granularity.
12. Check up a spring редукционного the valve on residual deformation and a bend. The length of a spring a free condition should be 81 mm. Strongly pressed out or damaged spring replace.
13. Check up gear wheels on presence выкрашивания metal, teases and deterioration of teeths. Replace the damaged gear wheels or gear wheels on which the strengthened unilateral deterioration of teeths is swept visually up.
14. Check up an axial backlash between end faces of gear wheels and a plane of a cover of the pump. It can be made in two next ways.

16. … and conducted gear wheels …
17. … and also depth расточки in the case under gear wheels. Calculate an axial backlash as a difference of arithmetic-mean value of depth расточки and thickness of gear wheels.
18. At the second way of check establish in the case a conducted gear wheel, put a metal ruler (or a calliper) an end face on the case and measure щупом a backlash between the case and a ruler.
19. Similarly measure an axial backlash of a leading gear wheel.
20. As much as possible admissible backlashes measured by both ways should be 0,045–0,100 mm for a conducted gear wheel and 0,035–0,085 mm for a leading gear wheel. If at least one of backlashes does not correspond to the specified value, replace the case or the pump in gathering.
21. Collect the pump in sequence, return dismantling. Before запрессовкой in a pump cover a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft grease with engine oil. On a stopper carving редукционного the valve put анаэробный a clamp of carving Loctite 573 or similar to it and tighten a stopper the moment 30 Нм (3,0 кгсм). If establish a new lining 13 (fig. 5.14 see), paste it to the case консистентной greasing.

Use only a firm factory lining. Installation of a lining of other thickness will lead to infringement of work of the pump.
In order to avoid engine damage at the first start-up after installation of the oil pump before establishing in its case of a gear wheel, fill all cavities of the pump консистентной with mineral greasing for maintenance всасывания oils from oil картера.
If at the first start-up of the engine with the replaced oil pump pressure of oil does not rise at once to demanded, immediately stop the engine, remove oil картер and check up tightness of connection of the pump with маслоприемником. If necessary repeatedly disassemble the pump and again fill its cavities консистентной with mineral greasing. In the absence of necessary pressure in greasing system even short-term work of the engine leads to its emergency damage.
