9.11.1. Adjustment of a drive of a lay brake

For preliminary check of correctness of adjustment of a drive of a lay brake lift the drive lever upwards against the stop, thus you should hear 6–8 clicks of the ratchet device. If the quantity of clicks does not keep within the specified interval or the car is not kept by a lay brake (Check of a lay brake see), adjust a drive. The adjusting knot of a drive of a lay brake is located in salon under facing of a tunnel of a floor.

It be required to you: a key on 10, a screw-driver with a crosswise edge.

1. Remove a back part of facing of a tunnel of a floor (Removal and installation of facing of a tunnel of a floor see).

THE NOTE The seat of the driver is removed for descriptive reasons. To get access to fastenings of facing and to adjusting knot of a drive of a lay brake, to remove a seat it is not required.

2. Check up correctness of adjustment of backlashes between brake колодками and drums of brake mechanisms of back wheels. For this purpose some times strongly press a brake pedal at the lever of a drive of a lay brake lowered against the stop downwards. If backlashes there is more than norm, by each pressing a pedal in brake mechanisms clicks of working mechanisms of adjustment of backlashes will be audible. The termination of clicks means the adjustment termination.

3. Will hang out a back part of the car and establish it on reliable support.

4. Lower the lever of a drive down to an emphasis and rotate an adjusting nut clockwise, periodically checking ease of rotation of back wheels. Screw an adjusting nut on a tip of a cable till the moment of occurrence of well notable resistance to their rotation.

5. Turn away an adjusting nut till the moment of an outright release of back wheels.

6. Lifting the drive lever upwards against the stop, check up quantity of clicks of the ratchet device of the lever. If the quantity of clicks does not keep within the interval resulted above, repeat adjustment. If also repeated adjustment it is not possible to achieve desirable result, check up a condition brake колодок brake mechanisms of back wheels, brake drums and drive cables.
