3.11.1. Electric equipment check

1. Check up, whether the belt of a drive of the generator and the pump of the hydraulic booster of a steering is torn off. If there was a breakage, replace a belt and adjust its tension (Replacement of a belt of a drive of the generator and the pump of the hydraulic booster of a steering see).

2. If the belt is whole, check up and if necessary adjust its tension (Check and adjustment of a tension of a belt of a drive of the generator and the pump of the hydraulic booster of a steering see).

GOOD ADVICE For express check of a tension of a belt take advantage of a "thumb" rule, pressing on a branch of a belt a thumb and defining a deflection by means of a ruler. According to this universal rule if distance centre to centre pulleys of 180-280 mm, the deflection has to be about 6 mm, and if distance of 300-400 mm the deflection should make 13 mm.

3. If and after a belt tension the alarm lamp all the same burns, check up the wires connected to плюсовой …	4. … and to "mass" plugs of the storage battery …

5. … to a starter …	6. … and to the generator. Wires can be torn off, broken off in isolation or with the oxidised or unreliable contacts. Eliminate malfunction and start up the engine. If there was a gymnastics current, it is possible to continue movement.

If and after the accepted measures the lamp of the category of the storage battery continues to burn at the working engine the possible cause of defect is covered in the generator. The reasons can be a little, eliminate them better in the conditions of car-care centre or garage, and you need to hope that the energy stock in the storage battery will suffice, that them to reach.

GOOD ADVICE To lower current consumption at movement of the car with the faulty generator, whenever possible disconnect a radio tape recorder, superfluous devices of illumination, the heater fan, heating of back glass, etc.
