9.10.1. Removal and installation of a brake drum

Brake drum remove for its replacement at damage or deterioration of a working surface (as much as possible admissible diameter of a drum of 201,0 mm), and also for the control of a condition of brake mechanisms, replacement brake колодок and working cylinders.

    

THE NOTE The brake drum is executed for a single whole with a back nave.

    

GOOD ADVICE Work carry out on the car with the hung out back wheels (on the lift or the car established by means of a jack on support). The lever of a lay brake should be lowered against the stop downwards (the car расторможен).

It be required to you: a key for bolts of wheels, a face head on 24, a thin chisel, a hammer, a calliper, two assembly shovels.

1. Include I transfer and establish persistent бруски under forward wheels.

2. Remove a decorative cap of a back wheel (wheel Replacement see).

3. Will hang out a back wheel and establish on a support a back part of the car of from outside removed drum. Remove a back wheel (wheel Replacement see).

4. By means of a thin chisel and a hammer accurately выпрессуйте a protective cap from a nave …	5. … also remove it.

6. A screw-driver unbend the unbent pad шплинта, straighten it …	7. … also take шплинт from a pin aperture.

8. Loosen the an inhaling of a nut of a back nave …	9. … also turn away a nut.

10. Remove from a pin a persistent washer …	11. … an internal ring of the external bearing …

12. … also remove a brake drum together with the internal bearing of a nave and an epiploon.	13. Measure by a calliper diameter of a working surface. If it exceeds as much as possible admissible, the drum is subject to replacement.

14. Examine a working surface of a drum. It should be equal and smooth, without ring рисок and obviously visible ovality (ovality should be no more than 0,5 mm, it can be defined on non-uniformly worn out worker of a surface of a drum). If ring risks very deep or non-uniform deterioration of a working surface is well visible, it is necessary to replace a drum new.

THE PREVENTION Brake drums replace with steams (left and right simultaneously).

    

GOOD ADVICE Examine a surface of overlays brake колодок. 15. Check up ease and noiselessness of rotation of bearings of a nave. If necessary replace bearings (Replacement of bearings of a back nave see).

16. Similarly remove and check up the right brake drum.

17. At installation of a former drum remove a file a fillet on a working surface of the drum, formed as a result of deterioration.

18. Result in an initial condition a regulator of backlashes (item 20 Replacement brake колодок the brake mechanism of a back wheel see).

19. Reduce brake колодки two assembly shovels.

20. Establish a drum in an order, the return to removal. Adjust bearings of a back nave (Adjustment of bearings of a back nave see).

21. Adjust a backlash between brake колодками and a drum, having pressed 10–15 times a brake pedal. By each pressing regulator click should be audible. As soon as clicks will stop, the backlash is established.

22. Запрессуйте in a nave a protective cap.

23. Establish a wheel and a decorative cap (wheel Replacement see).

24. Check up ease of rotation of a wheel. The lung задевание a drum about колодки is supposed.
