4.3.24. Service of the storage battery

Not less often than an once in two weeks delete dry rags a dust and a dirt from a surface of a monoblock and a battery cover. If on a cover there was casually an electrolit, remove its pure rags moistened with 10 %-s' solution of liquid ammonia or soda. Then dry wipe a cover surface.

Clear a cover surface only at densely wrapped up stoppers in order to avoid electrolit pollution.

Watch that stoppers have always been densely wrapped in mouths банок. Not less often than an once in two weeks check cleanliness of apertures for a gas make in stoppers (if they in them are executed) or in lateral walls of a cover as the contamination of these apertures will cause increase of pressure of gas in the battery that can lead to its damage.
For prevention of oxidation of polar conclusions of the battery and tips of wires regularly clear conclusions and tips and grease with their technical vaseline or консистентной greasing. Watch density of connection of tips of wires and conclusions.

Instead of technical vaseline or usual консистентных greasings to protection against oxidation of conclusions and tips is better to apply available in sale current-carrying медесодержащие greasings.

Periodically check reliability of fastening of the battery on the car and if necessary tighten it in order to avoid occurrence of cracks on a monoblock.

For reduction of the vibrations transferred to a monoblock of the battery, and for avoidance of damage of a paint and varnish covering in a case вытекания electrolits from the storage battery establish the battery on a rug from кислотостойкой rubbers.

Wires should be attached to battery conclusions with a weak point as the tension of wires can lead to shaking of conclusions in a cover and an electrolit leak.
Periodically, is not more rare than an once in two weeks, check electrolit level in battery elements.

At batteries with the general for all elements a cover equipped with a condenser cavity, it is supposed to check electrolit level once in 2 months.

Electrolit level in all elements should be on 5–10 mm above the top edge of separators that corresponds to a level finding between labels MIN and MAX on a wall of the translucent case of the battery.

To check electrolit level over the top edge of separators conveniently glass tubule: lower it in an element against the stop in a separator and, having closed the free end of a tubule a finger, take out it from an element.

For restoration of level of electrolit add only the distilled water. If it is precisely established that the reason of low level is выплескивание add electrolit of the same density, as remained in a battery element. If level above norm pump out electrolit a rubber pear with эбонитовым a tip.

To add in the storage battery the concentrated acid categorically it is forbidden!

If while in service there were difficulties with engine start-up, check up degree заряженности the storage battery on density of electrolit or on pressure on its conclusions in not loaded condition (tab. 4.4). For check of density of electrolit use ареометром or available in sale поплавковым the indicator of density of electrolit. On battery conclusions it is possible to measure pressure by any voltmeter of a direct current with a limit of measurement 20 In (the similar voltmeter is a part of all autotesters available on sale).
If degree заряженности batteries of 75 % or more low, it is necessary to remove it from the car and to charge with the help charger devices (the Gymnastics of the storage battery see).
