10.2.1. An arrangement of safety locks, fusible inserts and the relay and their replacement

The majority of feed circuits of an electric equipment of the car is protected by fuses. Headlights, electric motors of fans, the fuel pump and other powerful consumers are connected through the relay. Safety locks and the relay are established in assembly blocks which are in car salon in an end face of the panel of devices on the left side, on the left forward part боковины and in подкапотном space to the left of the storage battery.

The majority of safety locks is established in the assembly block of safety locks in salon (fig. 10.1), located on a forward part боковины bodies under a plastic cover. The chains protected by safety locks (numbers of safety locks are specified in a photo), are resulted in tab. 10.1.

Besides, the relay and safety locks are located in the assembly block in подкапотном space (fig. 10.2 and 10.3, the cover of the assembly block is removed). In tab. 10.2 appointment of the established safety locks, fusible inserts and the relay is specified, but on concrete model of the car there can be no some chains specified in the table.

Relays are located and in an end face of the panel of devices on the left side (fig. 10.4, for descriptive reasons on a photo facing of the panel of devices is removed). In tab. 10.3 relay appointment is specified.

3. Before to replace fused safety lock, find out its reason перегорания and eliminate it. At troubleshooting see the chains specified in tab. 10.1 which are protected by the given safety lock.

    
THE PREVENTION
Do not replace safety locks with crosspieces or the safety locks calculated on other current strength, and self-made crosspieces is can lead to damage of electric devices and even to a fire.

4. Take a replaced safety lock.
5. So the fused safety lock (the crosspiece shown by an arrow in the plastic holder has fused and it was opened) looks. For replacement of the fused safety lock use a spare safety lock of the same face value (and colours).

Spare safety locks of different face values are located on an underside of a cover of the assembly block of the relay and the safety locks, established in a motor compartment.

GOOD ADVICE
Before starting to work on elimination of malfunctions in any electric chain, attentively study the corresponding scheme as more as possible to be clear in the mind about its functional purpose. The troubleshooting circle is usually narrowed at the expense of gradual definition and an exception of normally functioning elements of the same contour. At simultaneous failure of several elements or contours most a refusal plausible reason is перегорание a corresponding safety lock or infringement of contact to "weight" (different chains in many cases can become isolated on one safety lock or a grounding conclusion).
Electric equipment refusals frequently speak the elementary reasons, such as corrosion of contacts of sockets, safety lock failure, перегорание a fusible insert or relay damage. Visually check up a condition of all safety locks, conducting and contact sockets of a chain before starting more detailed check of serviceability of its components.
In case of application for troubleshooting of diagnostic devices carefully plan (according to applied electric schemes), in what points of a contour and in what sequence it is necessary to connect the device for the most effective revealing of malfunction.
The number of the basic diagnostic devices includes a tester of electric chains or the voltmeter (it is possible to use and a 12-volt control lamp with the complete set of connecting wires), the indicator of breakage the chains (sampler), including a lamp, own power supply and the complete set of connecting wires. Besides, always it is necessary to have in the car the complete set of wires for start-up of the engine from an extraneous source (the storage battery of other car), equipped with clips of type "crocodile" and it is desirable the breaker of an electric chain. They can be applied to shunting and connection of various elements of an electric equipment at chain diagnostics. As it has already been mentioned before starting check of a chain by means of the diagnostic equipment, define under schemes of a place of its connection.
One of methods of search of short circuit is extraction of a safety lock and connection instead of it a lamp-sampler or the voltmeter. Pressure in a chain should be absent. Pull conducting, observing of a lamp-sampler. If the lamp starts to blink, somewhere in the given plait of wires there is a short circuit on "weight", probably, caused перетиранием isolation of wires. Similar check can be spent for each of components of an electric chain by inclusion of corresponding switches.
At diagnostics of breakage of a site of an electric chain suspected available visually to find out a cause of defect it appears to check up difficult enough as happens hard visually plugs on occurrence of corrosion or infringement of quality of their contacts because of the limited access to them (usually plugs are closed by the case of a contact socket). Sharp twitching of the case колодки a plait of wires on the gauge or the plait of wires in many cases leads to contact restoration. Do not forget about it at attempts of localisation of a cause of a failure of the chain suspected available of breakage. Astably arising refusals can be a consequence of oxidation of plugs or infringements of quality of contacts.
